Hatcham Social
Nearly everyone I speak to in London at the moment is talking about Hatcham Social. The three-piece band from South East London have just recorded their third single with Charlatan’s frontman Tim Burgess making his production debut. They have also been signed to Waks Records, the label run by ae young—but very wise—kid who happens to be Alan Mcgee’s son (the man who discovered Oasis, and gave us Jesus And Mary Chain, Primal Scream, and Ride to name a few).
The band is comprised of two brothers, Toby and Finn Kidd on drums (the latter was featured on Klaxons original recordings) and bassist David Javu. I got on the phone with guitarist/frontman Toby Kidd to talk about their feisty, jangly tunes, and other such grand topics.
You can see Hatcham Social in London at The Queen Is Dead or Death Disco a number of times throughout the summer. Tim Burgess has described the band as “…the next lovely provisional state of the Post Card era…” So there!
